Growing your own food is an excellent way to decrease the single-use plastic packaging you bring into your home—not to mention the phenomenal health benefits of fresh, local and organic produce, combined with the deep satisfaction of working the soil with your own hands to feed yourself and your family. Given the complex mix of toxic chemicals in plastics that can leach into the soil and contaminate your lovingly nurtured fruits and veggies, it makes sense to use as little plastic as possible when you garden.
